Hello everyone!
It’s been a while since I last posted, and although I always intend to write more frequently, the reality is quite different. Why, you ask? Well, let me introduce you to my ADHD madness. I’m an ADHD adult, a working mother with a passion for chaos, it seems. I’ve always been a doer, someone who loves getting things done. The last time I blogged, I was a self-employed mum working hard to start a perinatal education business with my best friend. But, as we needed a steady income and were unsure of our business direction, we both sought other work.
What I Do Today
Now, I’m working as a virtual assistant, still immersed in my passion for supporting people. I am still self-employed and manage to squeeze in some face painting gigs for Cher’s Funky Faces when I have the time. I’m a mother of four and have been working on selling my products on my Etsy store. And here I am, trying to write a blog post amidst all this! Would you believe I’m not ADHD? Ha!
My Dream
This isn’t an excuse for my inconsistency but rather an apology to myself for not giving myself enough time to write. I love to talk, whether through writing or speaking. Talking is my favorite thing to do. If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you’ll know I have an unhealthy obsession with Disney World. Disney has such a special place in my heart. I love both the old and new films, but the parks are my true passion. Since becoming a mum, my hyperfocus has been on getting my children to experience the magic of Disney as I did.
My Plan
I plan to document everything I do this next year to get us there. As a millennial mum, one of the struggles is deciding between rent and mortgage prices. Do we continue renting and enjoy lovely holidays or buy a house and struggle to afford a holiday? With a large family, a trip to Florida resorts costs around £14,000. Yes, £14,000! But I am determined to find a way to get us there within the next year.
While documenting this journey, you will see the ups and downs of juggling life, ADHD, family, and passion. It will not always be exciting, but it will give you passion to try something fun. I cannot wait to meet some new people on this journey and to gain a community.
My Mad Idea
I thought about trading like the amazing lady who got a house for a paperclip—imagine that! However, I’ve already talked myself out of the trading idea. Instead, I will create a sticker, the equivalent of the bobby pin trade, and sell it on my Etsy page. This sticker is special because you can color and personalize it. If you are a Disney-mad family like us, why not put your favorite Disney characters on it? If you post it on your socials with the hashtag #GetMeToDisneyStickerGame, we will guess which Disney characters you’ve created. Let’s spread the magic all the way to Disney!
Step By Step
- Create a sticker that showcases determination to achieve a goal and can be colored in to create different Disney characters, helping us spread the magic.
- Promote it on social media. This is daunting for me as I’m not the type to use social media to ask for something. I’ve written blog posts explaining ADHD but never in this mad way of getting people to buy a product to make my family’s dreams come true. Who am I kidding? I have definitely forced my family to love Disney as much as I do. Anyone who knows me will call me the mum of the group, the person who is old before her time, the sensible one. Disney is my crazy, my childish let-loose side. It was the one time as a kid that I completely felt like myself. Undiagnosed ADHD trauma gone for the two weeks of the holiday. No feeling of judgment.
- Get the stickers made and document the process.
- GoGoGO…
- Document all the planning and booking of the holiday and how we as a family have worked together to make this possible.
Not only am I making stickers, Ellie, my second born, would like to make some slime to sell. Freya, my oldest, would like to make some bracelets, and Ava, my youngest girl, would like to make other stickers. Nate, the baby of the family, is not sure what he would like to do to help, but once he knows, we will get that out for you.
So please pop over to our Etsy store at: MagicalMM Etsy Store to see the items we have for sale. And don’t forget to post these on our social @themessymumblog.
Here’s to our adventure!
